Meet Your Companion
Hi, I'm Josephine, and I’m the founder of The Good Grief Companion.
I created The Good Grief Companion after the death of my late husband, an experience that reshaped my understanding of grief, love, and the long road of learning to live with loss.
This work grew from lived experience with grief, a deep belief that grief is a natural response to love, and a desire to create compassionate spaces where people don't have to carry it alone.
Our Story
The Good Grief Companion exists because grief deserves more than sympathy—it deserves understanding.
Whether through one-on-one support, grief awareness workshops, reflective workbooks, or educational resources, my hope is to help individuals and communities respond to grief with greater compassion, confidence, and care.

If my work resonates with you, I’d be glad to hear from you. You can reach me through the Contact page.
Faith
& Inclusivity
My work is rooted in compassion, presence, and deep respect for the unique way each person carries grief.
My own Christian faith shapes how I understand love, loss, and the enduring bonds we hold with those who have died. At the same time, this space is intentionally welcoming to people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and life experiences.
Whether your grief is held through faith, spirituality, personal reflection, or simply the quiet work of the heart, you are welcome here. The focus of this work is not belief itself, but compassionate support for the human experience of loss.

Our Approach to Grief Support
Grief Support
To offer compassionate, non-judgmental support for people navigating life after loss, honouring each person’s pace, story, and unique way of grieving.
Human Connection
To create spaces where grief feels less lonely by centering listening, shared experience, and meaningful connection rather than quick fixes or advice.
Practical Tools
To offer simple practices, education, and resources that help people carry their grief with greater gentleness in everyday life.
Our Approach
My work is informed by both professional training and lived experience.
I hold a Counselling Care Certification with a focus on grief and loss, along with Mental Health First Aid and Psychological First Aid certifications. I also have training in Human Resource Management, which supports my work in developing compassionate and informed responses to grief in both community and workplace settings.
For more than 15 years, I have worked in recreation and wellness leadership, teaching, managing, and facilitating programs that promote connection, emotional well-being, and supportive community environments.
In addition to this work, I co-facilitate local grief support groups and develop educational workshops focused on grief awareness, loss literacy, and compassionate communication for workplaces, churches, and community organizations.
Together, these experiences continue to shape how I walk alongside individuals, educate organizations, and support compassionate responses to grief.
Today, I provide non-clinical grief support for individuals, create educational resources, and facilitate grief awareness workshops for workplaces, churches, and community organizations.
